About Me

For the past two decades, my professional life has revolved around making complex topics in science, nature, business and healthcare interesting, accessible, and accurate. for general readers For 15 years, I served as the University Editor and Director of Publications for Clarkson University, a research institution located in the foothills of the Adirondacks. As editor of the Clarkson magazine, I was responsible for writing and editing profiles and articles on topics from the role of nonverbal communication in successful cross-cultural negotiations to saving shorelines with solutions drawn from nature. I also created marketing content and digital communications for admissions and advancement.

Living in this region, surrounded by mountains, freshwater lakes, and hundreds of miles of protected wilderness, has informed my understanding of place, community and the importance of the natural world.

As a freelancer, I have worked as a writer, editor, copyeditor, and communications professional for book publishers, universities and nonprofits, including the Canton-Potsdam Hospital, SUNY Potsdam, St. Lawrence University, Love Without Boundaries, Peachtree Publishers, HarperCollins, and Scholastic magazines.

Prior to moving to the Adirondack region, I worked in book publishing in New York City and Atlanta.
